Four powerful reasons why God wants you to start a business.

I want to talk about the truth that no one really tells you about why God actually wants you to start a business. It’s not just about making money; it’s a powerful, God-given way to fulfill your purpose.

Let’s get right into it. The first reason is foundational, and it’s right there in the very beginning of the Bible.

This is from Genesis 1:28, and it’s a verse we all know: “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Now, when you hear “be fruitful and multiply,” your mind probably goes to having children. And yes, that’s absolutely part of it. But it’s so much bigger than that. It means multiplying everything you’ve been given your skills, your resources, your influence. Business is one of the most powerful ways to do this. You’re taking an idea, a skill, or a resource, and you’re creating something valuable from it. You’re not just filling the Earth, you’re subduing it. You’re creating systems, products, and services that provide for others and, in the process, expand God’s kingdom.

So, how do you apply this? Think about your God-given talents. What are you naturally good at? How can you use those talents to serve people through a product or a service? Once you have that idea, take action. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. That’s the first step in being fruitful.

Here’s the reality: many people won’t ever step inside a church. But they will step inside your business. A Christian-owned business can be a powerful reflection of God’s love, ethics, and values. It can impact employees, customers, and even competitors. When you operate with integrity, with honesty, and with excellence, you’re showing the world what it looks like to live a life that honors God. Business allows you to meet people, to build relationships, and to share your faith in a natural, organic way. It’s an extension of your ministry.
